Applying to colleges and universities can cost money. Application fees are usually between $50-$70. If you are applying to more than one university, this can add up, regardless of whether you are American, Indonesian or Irish.
If the application fee is too much for you to pay, you shouldn’t let this stop you from applying. Rules on how to waiver a fee (not pay a fee) depend on each university. Most of them are states on the form. If this is too complicated to understand, there is nothing wrong with asking each university how to do it.
However, the reason for requesting to waive the fee needs to be solid. The student needs to clarify a good reason why she/he should get the fee waived. Among the many reasons for doing this can be applying to many schools or having received a full scholarship that does not include application fee expenses.
