More than 2 million students from more than 175 countries take the SAT every year. Most colleges require this standardized test for all high-school graduates.

As an Indonesian student, your SAT scores will be viewed DIFFERENTLY than the scores of American students. Admissions officers know English is not your first language.

There are also a number of colleges that do not require the SAT or de-emphasize the test, or offer alternatives.

It is important to know if the colleges you are applying take SAT as a major consideration, or not. (for more read here)

For those students applying for fall 2016 admission, you will need to take the old SAT test.

Here is some useful general information about the test. Here is a guide to test dates for 2015 and beginning of 2016.

The latest date you can take the SAT is probably December. Check when the test is given then. Most schools don’t accept tests taken later than December. Some do. Some may not even want you to take the SAT.
